Living in Brighton

Brighton is a historic town, awarded city status in 2000 as Brighton and Hove City. With a wide range of cultural, academic, employment and entertainment opportunities, it offers a unique quality of life for residence and visitors alike.

The most obvious attraction to Brighton is its prime location right on the seafront offering splendid views across the English Channel. The city itself contains several world-renowned landmarks. These include the spectacular Palace Pier, the fabulous Royal Pavilion and the much-loved ‘Lanes’ – a confusion of narrow alleyways containing an Aladdin’s cave of artefacts, antiques and cafés waiting to be discovered.

But there are any other considerations, such as transport, housing and entertainment, when living in Brighton. You should know that it is served with excellent rail connections to the rest of the country as well as an award-winning bus network that will get you around the city cheaply and efficiently. Furthermore,  clean, licensed taxis are on hand 24 hours a day or you can make use of the network of cycle lanes throughout the city for a healthier lifestyle. There are also three airports within easy reach of the city that will link you to the rest of the UK, Europe and the world.

Driving in Brighton is well-regulated, with assigned parking zones and many public car parks throughout the city. Resident parking zones give preferential treatment to residents with no off-street parking who live and wish to park within the designated areas.

The housing market offers choice with accommodation suitable for bachelor living, young couples or family life. Rental prices are around £400-£700 a month for a studio or one bedroom flat – on up to £1200+ for a four-bedroom family home. There is the opportunity to get sea views along the coast or water views from some of the apartments and studios on offer in the marina.

Brighton offers plenty to do in your spare time, too, with restaurants, theatres, cinemas, casinos, clubs, pubs, bars, live music venues and art galleries aplenty.

If you are looking for a unique quality of life, a relaxed atmosphere found only in provincial England – plus all the amenities of a sophisticated, cultural city, Brighton is the place to be.
